The next year of my life will be focused on a new project, on a new plot of land that my life partner and I have just purchased. The land is stationed in New Perth, Prince Edward Island, Canada and is the home to a wealth of wildlife. It is 55 acres of different terrains providing animals with a variety of habitat to roam. Our first evening tenting on this property we had the pleasure of hearing coyote, Great-horned Owl and Barred Owl throughout the night and very close by. Many different species of butterfly use the open fields while 40 acres of mixed forest gives shelter to the woodland animals.
This property is destined to be a privately owned nature reserve and will be open for guided tours for people to witness the animals and natural places on this beautiful island. Throughout this next year I will begin to cut walking trails while installing owl boxes in significant places and any other construction needed to preserve the life that is using this area. Eventually there will be a lodge for visitors to stay and an information centre for the wildlife and plant/tree species found in the area.
This has been something I have always dreamt of doing and now that things are finally in place, I couldn't be more excited. You can follow Dusk and Dawn Nature on instagram @dusk_and_dawn_nature and I will update you all on the process, here on the blog page. I hope to see you soon on a Dusk and Dawn Nature Tour!!
Another great week for being in nature. Wildlife was all around this week with a lot of animal young on the move. Butterflies sited are also included in this week's count and for the weeks to follow. They are highlighted and recorded before the birds in each location. Hope you enjoy this weeks gallery!!

As a naturalist, I spend a great amount of time in personal study. Discussion and research is key to exploring new and intelligent ideas and furthering our understanding of our natural surroundings.
